Viết theo cấu trúc câu gián tiếp – Câu hỏi Yes/No (Reported speech – Yes/No Questions)

 

Direct: “Auxiliary V + S + V?”

Indirect: S + asked + if/whether + S + V

 

Ví dụ:

‘Do you work this Saturday’ She asked.

She asked me if worked that Saturday.

Lưu ý:

–         Để biến đổi một câu trực tiếp sang câu gián tiếp cần:

  • Đổi chủ ngữ và các đại từ nhân xưng khác trong câu trực tiếp theo chủ ngữ của thành phần thứ nhất.
  • Lùi động từ ở vế thứ 2 xuống một cấp so với lúc ban đầu.
  • Biến đổi các đại từ chỉ thị, phó từ chỉ thời gian và địa điểm theo bảng qui định.

Bài tập:

  1. ‘Are the banks open in the afternoon?’

A couple asked me if/ whether the banks were open in the afternoon.
  1. ‘Do museums close on Sundays?

A young man asked me if/ whether museums closed on Sundays.
  1. ‘Are you waiting for a tourist bus?’

A woman asked me if/ whether I was waiting for a tourist bus.
  1. ‘Did the waiter overcharge us?’

Two friends asked me if/ whether the waiter had overcharged them.
  1. ‘Will a hotel be expensive?’

A couple asked me if/ whether a hotel would be expensive.
  1. ‘Has the flight from Bristol arrived?’

A woman asked me if/ whether the flight from Bristol had arrived.
  1. ‘Is there a Bureau de Change nearby?’

A man asked me if/ whether there was a Bureau de Change nearby.
  1. ‘Did you hear the platform number?’

A man at the station asked me if/ whether I had heard the platform number.
  1. ‘Are we going to get a guided tour?’

A woman outside the museum asked me if/ whether we were going to get a guided tour.
  1. ‘Have you been to Egypt before?

She asked me if/ whether I had been to Egypt before.
  1.  ‘Did you fly to Cairo?’

She asked me if/ whether I had flown to Cairo.
  1. ‘Are you planning to stay long?’

She asked me if/ whether I was planning to stay long.

‘Do you like the food?’           

She asked me if/ whether I liked the food.
  1. ‘Are you hungry?’

She asked us if/ whether we were hungry.
  1. ‘Are you enjoying yourself?’

He wanted to know if/ whether I was enjoying myself.
  1. ‘Do you always go to church on Sunday?’

He wondered if/ whether I always went to church on Sunday.
  1. ‘Have you seen John recently?’

She asked me if/ whether I had seen John recently.
  1. ‘Has Debbie been working here long?’

He wanted to know if/ whether Debbie had been working there long.
  1. ‘Did you study hard for the exam?’

She wondered if/ whether I had studied hard for the exam.
  1. ‘Will Ted and Alice be at the party?’

She asked us if/ whether Ted and Alice would be at the party.
